Aaron is excited to release his second album, Glass Opera, available early 2008. Recorded in 2007 and self-produced, Glass Opera features 8 original songs. This album spans genres and styles and is a revealing glimpse into the artistic mind of a most unusual talent. Those who have caught glimpses of Aaron's rare performances will recognize the disco-heart-pumping "Medallion", the tongue-in-cheek lament of "Shadow of Death", and welcome new gems like the bar-brawl soundtrack "Last Call", a 2am call to arms to grab your shot-glass and crank up the guitars.

Also heard on Glass Opera are a true-to-the-original cover of the John Lennon hit "Whatever Gets You Thru The Night", complete with a Saturday Night Live saxophone slant and featuring Aaron's contemporary Kellin Watson on vocals. Aaron also presents a reinvention of the Crowded House hit "Private Universe", lifting the tune out of it's tribal, acoustic origins and dipping it in molten guitar strings and synthetic vocal effects.

Available online SOON!

Malcolm Holcombe releases "Not Forgotten"

Malcolm Holcombe is one of the Asheville’s most engaging, entertaining songwriters and performers. He has a singing and guitar playing style all his own. His performances are amazing, and so are his songs. Check him out sometime, in the listening room or on your home hi-fi. Once you do, you'll be a fan. His next Asheville appearance is July 21 at the Grey Eagle.

"Not Forgotten," produced by Aaron and Malcolm, was recorded at Collapseable Studios in Asheville. Among the featured players are Tulsa OK’s Jared Tyler (dobro, electric steel), Bill Reynolds (bass, mixing, general killer studio instinct), Aaron (organ, piano), Brian Landrum (drums), Josh Day (drums), and Amy Hamilton (back-up vocals).

Order the CD online at www.malcolmholcombe.com or at a record store near you.

Peggy Seeger delivers memorable farewell

I was honored and thrilled to be a performer for this special event. Over 300 people came to Diana Wortham theater to bear witness to Peggy Seeger’s artistry, wit, message and mojo (Let’s face it: Even at 70 and with a fractured left wrist Ms Seeger STILL has it--- in SPADES). Profits from ticket sales were donated to Asheville’s Dogwood Alliance in defense of the Southern Forest. www.dogwoodalliance.org Special thanks to the Dogwood alliance volunteers and all other volunteers who gave their time and energy to pulll this event off. Musicians included. Best wishes in Boston, Peggy.

Please visit my press page for a full review of the show!

Asheville’s 2006 Hospitality House Benefit Successful

Big Thanks to all who came out to support the Hospitality House Benefit Last Sunday the 29th .  Over $1500 was raised for the Room In the Inn women’s shelter program. The audience was great and many of the music community’s  best-loved performers won new fans that afternoon at the West Asheville Presbyterian Church.

The Sweet Adelines enchanted young and old with a capella gospel; Katie Kasben added her dashing touch of theater, and then The Rib Tips got everyone hoppin’ to “Froggy Went a-Courtin”. Daniel Coolik ran up and down the mandolin with a jazzy “Pent-Up House” while I tried to hang on at the piano. Malcolm Holcombe delivered inspired renderings of “Goin' Home” and “Where is My Garden,” with the accompaniment of Bill Reynolds. But it wasn’t over. Woody Wood raised the roof (but what’s new?) with gospel offerings including “Will the Circle be Unbroken”. The Asheville Christian Church of Hope Womens’ Choir incanted in Russian to an R&B gospel track, and the Mad Tea Party topped things off with ukulele and kazoo flair with “Who Built the Ark?”.

As an encore, everyone got together and led the audience in a sing-along to Townes van Zandt’s “Two Hands”.

Thanks to each person that helped make the event a success. I’m proud to have produced such an astounding evening of entertainment. See you next year….

Hollywood Red set to begin new album
Woody Wood, AP, and John Spurrier are rehearsing to begin production on the next Hollywood red album, as yet untitled. “Woody’s songwriting keeps getting better and better,” sez AP of the local legend Woody Wood. “The new album is going to break the mold for the Southern Rock record. It will actually be much to large to fit into that mold.”
Keep your ears peeled for this Asheville monstrosity.

The Duhks record a Canadian TV theme song at Collapseable Studios

I had a blast recording a short performance of the Duhks, Canada's acoustic pop darlings of the moment. They are keeping really busy touring around right now on the Sugar Hill label. Another reasons to move to Canada.... watching episodes of "Bronco Teddy". Good luck, Duhks.

HAIR a big Success in Asheville

I had the privilege of spending many fun summer hours as musical director for Katie Kasben's local production of the Broadway cult-classic HAIR. I worked as musical director and bass player in the band along with River Guerguerian on drums, Chris Rosser on keys, and Tom Leiner on guitar. The band was hard working and sounded terrific every night. It was a special independent production and it sold out both nights we ran it at the Diana Worthem Theater in downtown Asheville. Another highlight of the experience
was listening to a talk given by Michael Butler, the original Broadway producer of HAIR, and Gary Orfield, Harvard's current Civil Rights guru.

Malcolm Holcombe rides high in the Low Country

Malcolm Holcombe's newest CD "I Never Heard You Knockin" is enjoying a warn reception both stateside and in Belgium, where last time I checked it was up there at #3 on their Americana charts. Check Malcolm's show out AS SOON ASYOU CAN. His performances are unforgettable. If you get his new CD, you may
find it hard to remove from your player. I'm grateful having had the opportunity to work for Malcolm on this recording.
